Barrington Trail opens in time for school holidays!

The Barrington Trail providing dry-weather 4WD access to some of the Barrington plateau’s most popular campgrounds and walking tracks will reopen a week early this year.

NPWS Barrington Tops Area Manager Anthony Signor said visitors will have 4WD access to the popular trail from midday on Friday 22 September 2017 – just in time for the start of the school holidays.

“The trail provides visitors with 4WD access to Little Murray and Junction Pools camping areas, and closer access to the southern plateau’s walking tracks including Careys Peak Track and Edwards Swamp Track,” Mr Signor said.

“Paddys Ridge Trail, Butchers Swamp Trail, Barrington Trail (central), Bullock Brush Trail, Tugalow Trail and Thunderbolts Trail are also opening early from Friday 22 September 2017. Bullock Brush provides 4WD access to Gummi Falls camping area.”

“Some of our trails need to be closed over winter and during extended wet weather for public safety, to reduce the incidence of people becoming stranded, and to minimise damage to the trails,” Mr Signor said.
