Cool off where the platypus play

The Gloucester platypuses aren’t silly, they know a good river for swimming when they see one. Close to town you can swim in the Gloucester River or a short drive takes you to the broad Barrington River, the Barnard River and the Manning River. All are fed by cool waters tumbling down from Barrington Tops and provide grassy banks for picnics, swimming holes for cooling off and calm flat water for lazing about on a rubber ring. And if you swim quietly at dusk or dawn you may just see a platypus.

But if you prefer a filtered pool with all the convenient trimmings, then head to Gloucester’s Olympic Pool Complex with its 50 metre lap pool, a 15 metre wading pool for the kids with water feature and shade cover, toilets and change rooms, kiosk, first aid room, shady areas and picnic facilities, a fenced children’s play area and even a 13 metre hydrotherapy pool with toilets and change rooms. Plus there’s free wi-fi available for those who can’t live without their technology close by. Welcome summertime swimming!
