Barrington Tops Tours and Equipment Hire

The World Heritage listing of Barrington Tops is an internationally recognised accolade that bring wilderness lovers to the area from across the country and across the world.

Outdoor experiences in Barrington Tops are the region’s specialty however the towns and villages in the Barrington Tops foothills maintain a relaxed country atmosphere and friendliness which sets the area apart from more crowded destinations.

The close proximity of Barrington Tops to Sydney, Newcastle, Great Lakes and the Central Coast means less time travelling and more time spent on relaxing and exploring. The peaceful and unspoiled Barrington Tops region is best accessed from the east via Gloucester or from the south via Dungog.

With so much to explore within the region, there are many tours available to ensure that visitors can see it all. There are various bushwalks extending from short, easy walks to steep overnight treks. The Barrington Tops Guide Book produced by NPWS and available from Gloucester and Dungog visitor information centres provide detailed information on each of these walks, and also provides excellent accommodation on the flora and fauna.

Guided walking tours are also available for some experiences, check with the visitor information centres at Gloucester and Dungog.

Access to the Barrington Tops can be achieved in both 2WD & 4WD, and there are some guided 4WD tours available too. The Lower North Coast Forestry map is an essential guide and is available from the visitor information centres at Gloucester and Dungog.

From Gloucester there is 2WD access over the Barrington Tops (via Barrington Tops Forest Drive) to Scone, which provides opportunities to view stunning lookouts and a diversity of easy access short walks.
